Customized Training to Fit Organizational Needs
Partner Success Story: Tri Sigma, Customized Training Client
Tri Sigma is a national sorority headquartered in Woodstock, VA. Active for over 115 years, Tri Sigma strongly believes in leadership development as a core value for their members and their leaders. With a motto of “ever forward,” Tri Sigma leaders strive to learn the most recent leadership, customer service, and facilitation skills. Marcia Cutter, Executive Director shares her thoughts about providing training for employees, “I believe in providing our employees with continuing education and training so we can advance and improve the services we provide to our members.”
Tri Sigma is a sorority that combines positive energy with strict no hazing standards. The sorority is known among its 60,000 plus membership as one that fosters an environment of success. Partnering with Workforce Solutions at Lord Fairfax Community College has helped Tri Sigma reach employee training goals by creating custom made curriculums. The curriculum is developed upon the needs and business model of the sorority. “LFCC Workforce Solutions is a wonderful community partner as they continue to bring in educators from the Disney Institute, host Leadercast, and offer events with top leadership speakers from a variety of businesses and nonprofits like Tri-Sigma” Cutter says.
Rachel Schaefer, 2013 Workforce Solutions Instructor of the Year, explains how partnering with local businesses and organizations is a win-win. “From leadership and customer service to project management, I have the honor of partnering with business to help their employees implement sustainable forward progress. I am able to combine industry experience and education with the best companies and speakers, like those from Disney and Leadercast. I then tailor that knowledge specifically to organizations like Tri Sigma.”
Schaefer often refers to a quote by Jack Welch, former CEO of GE who stated, “If the rate of change on the outside (of the organization) exceeds the rate of change on the inside, the end is near.” Schaefer adds that she awakes every day to a job she loves-helping others avoid the end and “soar upward.”
The LFCC Workforce Solutions team would like to send a gracious thank you to Maria Cutter and Tri Sigma for allowing us to be partners in their success. It has been a pleasure to partner with Tri Sigma and over 1,200 other employers in the area over the past year.
