Middletown, VA – Seven local school divisions will join together to host the sixth annual Northern Shenandoah Valley Regional Teacher Recruitment Fair on Saturday, March 19, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The event will be held in the Corron Building on the campus of Lord Fairfax Community College in Middletown, VA, convenient to I-81 and I-64. Public school divisions participating in the event include Clarke, Frederick, Page, Shenandoah, and Warren Counties, as well as Winchester City and Harrisonburg City Schools. No pre-registration is required.
“This event is a key part of our effort to attract and hire high quality teachers who will positively impact student learning,” said Winchester Public Schools Director of Personnel, Donna Eagle. “It provides a format that allows prospective teachers an opportunity to speak with school division administrators on an informal basis to learn about the unique aspects of our school division,” Eagle continued. “By partnering for the event, we provide candidates with the opportunity for one-stop shopping in their job hunt, and present our districts with a wide array of potential employees who already have their qualifications in hand. It’s a win-win,” she added.
Andrew Ansoorian, Executive Director of Human Resources for Harrisonburg City Schools, sees this cooperative effort as important for both short and long term. “Virginia schools consistently rank at or near the top in national comparisons. This success is a direct result of the superior teacher and leadership talent that Virginia public schools possess,” Ansoorian said. “With approximately 50% of our teaching workforce nearing retirement,” he added, “efforts to attract top teaching talent to our region is imperative for the future learning outcomes of our students.”
All applicants should submit their applications for specific positions directly with participating school divisions. Each school division has an online application process available through the division website.
