Industrial Maintenance Technician Student Spotlight

Multi-Craft Technician Student Success Story - Terry SmithAfter 12 years with prominent furniture maker, Henkel Harris, Terry Smith was laid off due to the closure of the business.  Smith turned to Laurel Ridge Workforce Solutions to determine his next move toward obtaining new skills and a new career. During his experience, he enjoyed working with Laurel Ridge to gain the qualifications he needed. “The whole Laurel Ridge Workforce Solutions team has been incredible to work with,” said Smith.

After meeting with the Career Coaches, Smith decided to enroll in the Multi-Craft (Industrial Maintenance) Technician Boot Camp.  Smith excelled in the program and upon completion, he met with the Laurel Ridge Workforce Solutions Job Placement Coordinator to become resume and interview ready.

In partnership with the Valley Workforce On the Job (OJT) grant, Smith successfully interviewed and was offered a position at O’Sullivan Films in Winchester. Anne Halterman of O’Sullivan Films said, “We are very happy to have Terry as part of our O’Sullivan team.  Completing the Multi-Craft (Industrial Maintenance) Boot Camp demonstrated his drive and initiative, which was a big factor in hiring him.  In his time on the team, Terry has been a valuable contributor, and we look forward to watching him grow with the company.”
