We have Full-time classes Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm for four weeks. Our part-time classes run Saturday and Sunday from 8 am to 5 pm for ten weekends. That’s only 20 days!
Our program consists of classroom instruction, various backing maneuvers, and on-the-road training. Students enjoy our hands-on approach to training and are in the trucks the second day. Classroom instruction will take place at Lord Fairfax Community College (Middletown or Warrenton) and a practice range located in Front Royal, Virginia or Thornburg, Virginia.
During training, student coordinators will meet each student personally to assist in the job placement process. Staff is available to answer questions and help guide students to a company that best suits their needs. Recruiters from various carriers come on-site and give presentations to students about their company. Students can then apply to the employers if they choose. Students are able to report to employers immediately after graduation to the carrier they selected. Most students have multiple pre-hires awaiting them upon graduation.
Student Success Stories
For Andrea, FastForward has been nothing short of life changing. She was incarcerated for over eight years in a federal prison, and after serving her time, she knew she had to make a change. Thanks to funding support through FastForward, Andrea was on the road to improving her life.
With little to no experience in tractor trailers and truck driving, Scott Renner of Cross Junction, VA came to Lord Fairfax Community College Workforce Solutions and CDS Tractor Trailer Training to find a new career. Renner selected LFCC and CDS as his number one choice. “There were a couple schools in the area and they didn’t offer as much as what CDS and Lord Fairfax offered,” said Renner. “I really liked what they had to offer. It’s a really good program and they take time to help you out if you need a little extra help in certain places. It was a really good choice for me.”
