For centuries, the person overseeing the construction of a complex building was often the architect, which is thought to be the case in ancient structures like the Great Pyramids of Egypt and the aqueducts of Rome.
Times change and more and more details of managing a construction project can be done digitally and that trend is expected to grow. New fall 2018 Lord Fairfax Community College Workforce Solutions and Continuing Education (LFCCWS) launches several new career training programs to fill the job demand of local healthcare providers. Dental Assisting, Personal Fitness Trainer, Medical Scribe and Medication Aide programs add to a robust lineup of entry-level in-demand jobs.
This Medication Aide Program prepares students to safely administer or to assist in client self-administration, medications in specific settings. This class includes lecture, skills lab, and clinical experiences. Students will be able to facilitate or assist the client with the administration of insulin, prepare for safe administration of medications to clients in assisted living facilities, maintain aseptic conditions, understand basic pharmacology, follow appropriate procedures for documentation and much more!
Dental assistants greatly increase the efficiency of the dental team in the delivery of quality oral health care and are valuable members of the dental care team. If you have strong communication and interpersonal skills, enjoy working with your hands and want a career with responsibility, dental assisting is for you. Topics included in this class are basic dental sciences, preclinical and clinical skills, radiography, restorative and laboratory materials and techniques, practice management and much more. This hands-on class will give you the tools you need to be successful in the industry. You will earn your BLS CPR Certification and Certificate in Dental Radiation Safety through this course. Books and supplies are all included in the class.
Certified Personal Trainers are increasingly in demand locally and can be a great career for anyone with a passion for fitness! Personal Trainers instruct and motivate individuals or groups in exercise activities, including cardiovascular exercises, strength training, and stretching.
