This course covers process instrumentation and systems control. Types of sensors, data transmission, measurement devices/concepts and industrial applications will be learned.

This is an advanced course where students learn the Allen Bradley SLC 500 instruction set, software and hardware, programming HMIs, special function modules, process control and I/O bus networks and the programming and application of zone control techniques, as well as troubleshooting PLCs.

Through the understanding of the principles of operation of simple machines, the elements needed to work on and maintain today’s manufacturing equipment will be covered in theory and practice. Safety and safe work practices will be emphasized in a Lab/Shop environment.
